Door Knobs
What goes through a door but never in or out of it? Only this seasons big trend. Yes after years of being overlooked, silently awaiting recognition, it is time for the doorknob to step up and ake centre stage in the spotlight that is our homes.
Little is known of the humble beginnings of the doorknob, however it has come a long way since the days of wood. So be prepared to be transported back to Victorian England, where the fanciful flaunted there treasures, with the gold gilts and ceramics available. Not forgetting those who like to mix it up the modern novelty pieces.
With so many ways to personalise your home, we are still shocked by the variety of choice available to us in mundane objects that are often forgotten. Well, that all changes this season, as we experiment with an array of colours, shapes and sizes.
Anthropologie does it again by giving us a selection of unique pieces. The combining of the colours, turquoise and gold, work perfectly in creating a form of treasure, in their lace-strewn knob. However it is the Mara Plate knob that steals the show with the combination of industrial meets delicate - a piece that would shine in its own right, detracting all attention from even that all too messy room.
Not to be outdone, Bombay Duck tantalises our eyes with its glass knobs in jewel tones, like the olive green Flower Glass Door Knob. But it is the Vintage Melon Mercury Glass door knob that brings that sense of opulence to a room.
